Electoral participation in Colombia borders 50% of the electoral census, lower than the world average. This phenomenon has being studied for its causes and for the possible solutions to reverse it. In this context, this study propose the possible relationship between utilitarian and informational consequences and the intention of voting of Colombians. For this, two phases were developed: the first one is exploratory with qualitative techniques to obtain a series of hypothetical consequences that could increase participation. In a second phase of quasi-experimental type, consequences were translated into statements and their effect on the intention to vote was evaluated on a scale of 1 to 10 by 322 participants over 18 years. The main findings showed that informational consequences discourage voting and that there is an inverse relationship between the age of the participant and the intention to vote.
