Análisis bibliométrico sobre el consumo conspicuo en los últimos veinte años

Conspicuous consumption refers to the acquisition of luxury goods for the purpose of obtaining recognition, status and social prestige. The consumption of luxury brands creates a state of happiness in the consumer. This topic has generated interest in the social, economic and psychological aspects and in the architecture of marketing strategies. For this reason, a descriptive bibliometric study on conspicuous consumption was conducted in order to analyze the scientific production published in the period from 2000 to 2020. The results found showed 2,154 documents indexed in Web of Science databases, using the following search descriptors: luxury, conspicuous consumption, status, prestige brand, status brand. Together, these findings suggest that scientific production has grown in recent years, contributing statistical knowledge to the different areas of research.
